In Japan, there are services to rent a girlfriend or a family. Stranger still, you can now rent out a middle-aged man.

Middle-aged men, referred to colloquially in Japanese as "ossan," can now be loaned out to people who need someone to talk to, or a helping hand with daily tasks.

Often cited by many vloggers and mistaken for being Manila, BGC has been criticized for being "car-centric, exclusive, and decorative."

"It’s easy if you have your own vehicle or can afford a ride-hailing app. But for the majority who don’t — those who serve, clean, cook, guard, and support this ecosystem — it’s long, exposed walks to reach the nearest public transport."

This stylish wine bar in Nairn is serving up a creative small-plates menu inspired by South East Asian and Middle Eastern flavours.

They recommend two or three plates per person and these come when they are ready, so works best if you are dining with folk you can share with.

Plates are dainty, flavourful and interesting. The menu updates regularly, but you’ll see similar dishes to those pictured below. Our favourites were the crispy Peking aubergine, a delicious chickpea and vegetable kofta served with dal (apologies, I ate it too fast to take a photo!), and bonus points for a proper vegan dessert with sticky toffee pudding.

As it is a wine bar, they offer a great choice of wines and their wine flights are a fun way to sample a selection.

You do need to check the allergens menu on their website to see vegan items, which is a little laborious. But it is good to see they’ve taken the trouble to produce a proper allergen menu, and gave me confidence in knowing which dishes were vegan. If you did visit without checking options, the staff were genuinely helpful, positive and informed. When we visited the chef adapted a vegetarian dish, making up a sauce for us so it could be vegan.

One One Two is unsurprisingly popular, so booking well in advance recommended.

The highest ranked Filipino tennis player Alex Eala (no. 73) opens up about the challenges of holding a weak PH passport (visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to only 69 countries and territories).

Australia, Paris, London, and the United States—where the 4 major Grand Slams are held—require a visa for the 19-year-old tennis sensation. Visa fees for Filipinos can cost $150 or more, and often non-refundable.

They believe the decision of BINI's management to produce English songs to cater to an international audience was the wrong move.
