I do love the irony of this post....

(Focus WTV post about how in the first train is running with a wheelchair accessible entrance that can be used without needing assistance.

tbf, I'm sure the wheelchair user just had to go a bit faster and this wouldn't have happened. But hey, nice to see we're finally making some progress on this stuff!)

🚄 Ontdek ons nieuwe autonoom toegankelijk M7-rijtuig!💙 ✨ In het najaar van 2024 zal NMBS voor het eerst een rijtuig in gebruik nemen dat 100% toegankelijk is. Hiermee zetten we een cruciale stap vooruit in het toegankelijk maken van de trein, zodat iedereen zelfstandig, ook zonder assistentie, met de trein kan reizen.👏 🙏 Om ervoor te zorgen dat al onze reizigers, en dus ook rolstoelgebruikers, slechtzienden, ouderen, reizigers met kinderwagens enz. zelfstandig kunnen reizen, moeten onze stations en treinen worden aangepast. Dit nieuwe rijtuig werd ontwikkeld in samenwerking met verenigingen die reizigers met een beperkte mobiliteit vertegenwoordigen. Hun belangrijkste aanbevelingen werden geïntegreerd. 🚄 Elke nieuwe M7-trein zal een autonoom toegankelijk rijtuig hebben en een multifunctioneel rijtuig met ruimte voor fietsen en kinderwagens. In elke M7-trein zal er dus plaats zijn voor minstens 16 fietsen. Alle bestelde M7-treinen moeten tegen eind 2026 geleverd zijn. @thibaultmol Until recently Infrabel modernised platforms with two different heights: 55 and 76 cm. :sncb: thus decided to order M7 multiple purpose carriages with an entrance on 63 cm. Worst of both worlds. It took both companies multiple years before they realised that 76 cm is the way to go. The 76 cm entrance M7 carriages are a late add-on to this order and no new 55 cm platforms are to be build.

Still great progress, also for persons taking their bicycle on the train, but which don't have the courage/muscles/energy to lift them up or on high steps! Not to mention that cyclists are forgotten sometimes.
