I have no idea why #Facebook thinks there is a street network in the middle of this lake
These #Facebook detected roads are just scribbles over a town.
And the data is bad.
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea" - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, #OpenStreetMap aerial surveyor and quality philosopher
I love this philosophy! 🙂
The ESRI World Imagery (Clarity) is very nice for tracing things into #OpenStreetMap
Kicking around the idea of formally proposing "nolanes=yes" in #OpenStreetMap. Granted, this is probably going to be North America centric (and countries that have largely similar rules). As such, the following two assumptions are in play: Lanes continue through the "box" (regardless of actual geometry) of the intersection where they are not marked, and outside of intersections, where no lanes are marked, you just drive wherever on the right half of the road.
Allan Mustard is *so* good at OSM-ing.
"[...] odds are good that coverage [of Russian Military Topographic Map Collection] outside the USSR was taken in violation of local copyrights and so may not be used in OSM."
