Sigh, compressed take on the bloomberg #openstreetmap article:
- corporate involvement in OSM has always been a thing (remember skobbler? MapQuest?). OSM is -not- wikipedia.
- tensions due to corporate involvement go back just as far, definitely far further back than 2014.
@rory if anything, I kinda want *more* corporate involvement locally to at least bolster the meek local presence of + demand for OSM here
Especially considering our govt is quite keen on creating a smart city, which inevitably means GIS integration in the works, and hence the appeal of OSM as an open data source
