region, Ontario mappers: it appears the LWG has effectively approved all open data licenses in the region, including the respective cities, as compatible with OSM! 🎉

There's a ton of useful data now available, like cycling infrastructure, winter maintenance, playgrounds, sports facilities, all sorts of things. Automatic imports would still need approval, but manual mapping is 100% good to go now!

wiki.openstreetmap.orgWaterloo region - OpenStreetMap Wiki

@jtracey *Waterloo referring to the region in Ontario Canada.
Not to be confused with Waterloo or Waterloo or Waterloo or Waterloo,.....

@thibaultmol Whoops, I usually mention Kitchener/Waterloo or some other context. Apologies to all the other Waterluvians around the world!

@jtracey Yeah! Looks like they haven't updated the approved licence page yet unfortunately, I'd be happy to share the approval email somewhere if that's wanted.

I also emailed the RoW GIS team to hopefully improve their licensing on the open data portal(s), since many items don't have explicit licences tagged. Haven't heard back yet, but hopefully soon!
