Cool new mapping activity layer at https://disaster.ninja/live/#overlays=osm-users,bivariate_kontur_openstreetmap_mapping_activity , showing how areas are for local compared to remote mappers, as well as the most active mapper in an area, should be good for some friendly competition.
Interesting post suggesting points of improvement for the openstreetmap.org website.
It is (was?) an initiative to monitor logging activities in tropical rainforests: https://blog.globalforestwatch.org/people/tracing-the-paths-to-forest-destruction-new-crowdsourcing-initiative-tackles-logging-roads-in-the-congo-basin
It used to get endorsed (probably too funded?) by the European Commission, but sorry for the link amnesia.
One of the most common complaints I hear about #OpenStreetMap mapping apps is the slow updates of their internal databases. Fortunately, #OsmAnd offers live updates that can be set for weekly, daily, or even hourly incremental updates! 😍
Many consider their cartography needs more love, but it's functional and feature-full.
It’s in the name, I guess ;) #Grab grabs #OpenStreetMap data, floods #OSM with incorrect edits and refuses to abide by the attribution rules. Where’s my surprised face? https://techcrunch.com/2018/12/19/grab-maps-osm-thailand-southeast-asia/
