@OSM_tourism as you can see from the ticket I gave it a good look, but sending detailed personal information to China just so that we can do Huawei a favour is just a NONO.

@simon so where do all the above mentioned apps come from ? And why not hosting a kind of @fdroidorg for ?

@OSM_tourism I've been running a mirror of nearly all of my github repos on a gitea instance for years (one day I'll get around to allowing issues to be opened there, but you've been able to 1/2 anonymously open issues on our github repo for a long time too).

@fsfe the 📱and installing extends the lifespan of the device. Most phone devices are not controlled ⛔ by the users. Through rooting or flashing a device, the user can take complete 💪 over it. fsfe.org/news/2023/news-202308

@OSM_tourism mapping is one thing, but you can't do proper business. I.e. Chinese companies using our services could be fined. E.g. the komoot app is likely not officially there...

@OSM_tourism I think my knowledge regarding the huawei app store was wrong.

@karussell but would be interesting whether Chinese developers may use (for "homegrown" apps). Or what the alternative should be...
