@rory finding the motivation to write about it is always so much harder than actually doing it! Anyway, looking forward to reading it, or the next one if you skip it again
@telemaco @openstreetmap it's been documented on the talk mailing list. It's not terribly interesting, but it didn't take long.

@Doudouosm I guess that's motivation to start cleaning up the local route relations. Previously my excuse was "nothing uses them" and in the UK the official data is far better than OSM
@AkuAnakTimur I still don't really know the difference between service and track. In my mind they should be the same with different surface tags.
We're looking for suggestions and comments on the next UK Quarterly Project.

@AkuAnakTimur I think the real reasons for good aerial imagery is much darker than that, but they may be best left in said. Let's just be happy we can benefit.
@AkuAnakTimur love that we are complaining about year old imagery! :p
The aerial imagery business must be booming & it's great that we can benefit from it.
@AkuAnakTimur Bing has recently been updating across the UK with some amazing results. I don't know how I ever mapped with the old imagery!
@ND3JR going through companies isn't the end of the world, but it is an extra step.
I was looking at Greyhounds website and they use OSM as base maps in a few places. That always makes it easier to explain.
@ND3JR OK. We are looking for a list of bus stops/routes? I think the states release a lot as Public Domain so I'd check with the state first, if they have a dataset it's probably usable.
If they don't, check with the bus company like Megabus. There website probably has the data, but you'll have to check the license to know if you can use it.
@ND3JR it's worth looking for, or even asking. I find if you manage to ask the right person they often give permission to use there data.
Like Geocaching but with a purpose!

Had a pretty good day surveying considering how dark and wet it is! #OpenStreetMap
This is a watch. The new challenge types are interesting.
@jambamkin Hmmm, I don't think we have the imagery to do individual plots. Maybe one day I'll get a quadcopter...
@jambamkin also #Facebook is explicitly not putting money into individuals but into groups and Local Chapters.
I'm a Facebook hater, but they are directly empowering local mapping groups.
We have theses companies attention, we need to help and encourage there involvement otherwise they'll just leave. That doesn't mean we just bow down and let them run the place, we have to balance there goals with ours so that everyone benefits.
In case you've not heard, I'm a little obsessed with #OpenStreetMap. I also ❤️ free software.
